For a company with less than 10 employees, it makes sense to use automated software. The problems arise when the software stops working and forces you to talk to a real person to get things going again. Last year, they screwed up our benefits and didn't put us on the zero deductible plan - never fixed it either. This year, we switched insurance carriers and we've had to restart the process 3 times, pushing back the benefits start date each time. I have appointments and surgeries to keep rescheduling and this is just getting ridiculous. It doesn't help that our reps are near impossible to reach and they notify us of deadlines just hours before a submission is due.

It does its job, and I was satisfied. It sometimes takes a while to load the profile photos, but otherwise it was great.

We started using it from the beginning of forming our company (over two years ago) and have been really pleased with the amount of features and support that Zenefits has provided. With any new company, there are usually some hiccups, but, they are always quick to fix problems and always available. We initially started out by using it as a platform before using them as our broker and haven't looked back since. We have two offices in California and Arizona and it has been really easy to onboard new employees remotely. Speed of onboarding, new features, seamless integration to QuickBooks for payroll, price, automation of most things HR. Doesn't handle international payroll yet (filing taxes, etc.) If you are looking to automate your HR, this is a great first step. You don't even have to use them for health insurance if you don't want to switch but I highly recommend it. Goodbye paper.

I like how quickly they implement your suggestions. We would request for certain features that were not yet available to be considered in future development, and within a couple of weeks our ideas were added to the software. I like how they simplified the onboarding process. For the most part their HR records platform works pretty well. The problems I came across were from using the benefit platform. The customer service process needs work. You have no direct contact (broker) to call/email when you have issues. There is a generic email address and phone number and a random rep will respond. You may have multiple conversations going at once with different people. There are also quite a few errors that have been made throughout our time with Zenefits, i.e. benefit plans from the previous year were not re-uploaded during open enrollment, therefore, were unavailable to our employees, enrollment apps were not sent to the carrier on time so employees who thought they had coverage did not, eligibility dates were not correct so benefit enrollments were not completed on time and the ACA reporting was a complete mess. In the end I do not trust Zenefits to get what I need and do as much work possible directly with the carriers. This company has a great concept, however, they have many growing pains to endure and unless you can afford to be a part of the trial by error learning curve, I would suggest going a different direction until they are more established.

The overall concept is good; they need better customer service. The implementation of medical, dental, and vision plans has been terrible and trying to get it cleared up has been a disaster with slow response times from customer service reps. Effective dates have been all messed up - and confusing to our employees. Personally, I would wait until they get their head wrapped around all the issues they have.

The UI of the product is the best I have seen. It's user friendly in that regard and easy to navigate for employees. As a vendor, my Account Manager and her supervisor seem intelligent, efficient and doing the best they can with an inferior product. They have not gotten a correct health benefits payroll deduction since November - it's April. They send you to multiple payroll specialists who you have to re-educate on the problem. I have encountered the same issue with double-deductions being pushed from Zenefits every single month. I am typically left double-checking that the second payroll of the month has been corrected; 50% of the time it has not. No one knows why our benefits deductions keep screwing up. Every time they think they fix the issue it goes wrong again. Ultimately we had to switch mid-year to a new vendor because they couldn't get anything right. This is only one of the multiple issues I have had on the benefits end of things. There isn't enough time in my day to explain to you how challenging they made open enrollment and health deductions. I would imagine it is fine for small companies with straight forward contributions and deductions. If you are a company with an HR team and any special requests as far as contributions for benefits, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. They have no idea what they are are doing, how to scale the product or handle customer support in a timely manner. What a joke/tragedy this has been for all of my employees and our company to use Zenefits.
