What is TrendMiner?
TrendMiner, a Software AG company and part of the IoT & Analytics division, delivers self-service data analytics to optimize process performance in industries such as chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, metals & mining and other process manufacturing industries. TrendMiner software is based on a high-performance analytics engine for time-series data that allows users to question data directly, without the support of data scientists. The plug-and-play software adds immediate value upon deployment, eliminating the need for infrastructure investment and long implementation projects. Search, diagnostic and predictive capabilities enable users to speed up root cause analysis, define optimal processes and configure early warnings to monitor production. TrendMiner software also helps team members to capture feedback and leverage knowledge across teams and sites. In addition, TrendMiner offers standard integrations with a wide range of historians such as OSIsoft PI, Yokogawa Exaquantum, AspenTech IP.21, Honeywell PHD, GE Proficy Historian and Wonderware InSQL. "Powerful process data analysis tool with great support" What do you like best? The searching/filtering and analysis tools are easy to use. The user interface is quick and responsive. Product updates with new, customer-requested features are released frequently. Customer service has been quick and reliable to help us with special requests and to provide quick support when needed. There is an easily accessible "help" section and support chat functionality that helps make the barrier to getting help with any issues very low. What do you dislike? There is a little bit of a learning curve in using all of the analysis features, so it takes some initial practice to become proficient in using the application to its full potential. Recommendations to others considering the product: The customer service has been very good and product updates are frequent based on customer feature requests, so TrendMiner is clearly customer-focused and growing.

"Speedy Insights" What do you like best? Allows you to manipulate trends and data for really quick insights that would take too many hours and be too cumbersome of a task to achieve in traditional trending client or excel. Also TrendMiner engineers are very hands-on helpful and often have manufacturing experience - don't shy away from any problem. When requesting help thru the platform, they practically fight to be the one to help. What do you dislike? I don't dislike anything about TrendMiner so far. Recommendations to others considering the product: It can take some time to get good at using TrendMiner, especially if the problem you're tackling is more complex. There's a lot of built-in capabilities that it can be confusing trying to understand what's applicable for the type of problem you're tackling. Don't be shy to inquire the help of TrendMiner engineers. Also expect to do some leg work in learning about your process if you're not already a SME.

"Extremely helpful visualisation tool" What do you like best? For me, the best feature of TrendMiner remains the ability to plot trends very fast that would otherwise require far more time downloading, importing and coding. Also the fingerprinting, although it needs some getting used to, has proved very useful. TrendMiner support has surprised me with their commitment and follow-up. What do you dislike? Most of the things that I would improve are in the next update so looking forward to that! Being able to export data at a 1 second interval would also be useful. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Comparing different trends, exploring data spread over large time frames (over 1 year), checking for similar situations using the fingerprinting has largely decreased the amount of time spent, adding calculations to be able to check the fit of calibrated trends.

Fingerprints are not perfect for our process Recommendations to others considering the product: It is a quick and easy tool for identifying problems and starting the problem solving cycle. Afterwards TrendMiner is also very useful for controlling the situation. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? All day to day problems are described and solved with TrendMiner. I use it for the Define, measure and Control steps in DMAIC and have quantified a lot of problems with TrendMiner. It is difficult to allocate profits with it as the solution is mostly not in TrendMiner. But without TrendMiner, the problem wouldn't even be visible, let alone a solution.

"Excellent tool for the chemical industry" What do you like best? With TrendMiner it is so easy and intuitive to look at your data. The Software is really fast and delivers new ways of working to get the most our of your process data. Pattern search and alarm monitoring are so easy to set up that a wide range of people can use it. The support is excellent, feedback is welcome. What do you dislike? The user interface could be even more intuitive and sometimes a special functionality is missing. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Process monitoring is much easier. Finding root causes for various failures.

"Easy and Fast" What do you like best? Trendminer enabled me to analyze my process data in a simple, easy and fast way. Via TrendHub you get a great view of your process data, and you are allready able to do searches within you history of processdata, you can do analysis of problems you have and you can do predictions of your process. Furhtermore, the support is great as well as the possibility to do feature request. What do you dislike? Collaborating on projects needs to be improved. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? All kind of process problems were solved with Trendminer. "TrendMiner is really helpful for analytics" What do you like best? TrendMiner was very useful in capturing the trend and seasonality in the dataset I was working on. I initially used python statsmodel to separate the trend, level, and seasonal components but that was not as helpful as using TrendMiner. Also, the documentation is really good. What do you dislike? TrendMiner is quite pricy. I wish it was a little affordable. Another thing is the performance, sometimes it takes a lot of processing time. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I'm working with anomaly detection and reconciliation. I continuously do time series analysis on various datasets to detect anomalies and sometimes find the correlation between two series to check for the causality relations. TrendMiner provides a good interface and is easy to use.
