Review Summary
Generated using AI from real user reviews
Ranorex earns consistent praise for broad technology coverage, strong support, and ease of use across desktop, web, and mobile testing. Users appreciate its C#-based architecture, Visual Studio-like IDE, and powerful element recognition via Ranorex Spy. The tool handles legacy applications well and integrates cleanly into existing frameworks. Support is repeatedly cited as responsive, knowledgeable, and proactiveβa genuine differentiator for many users.
Weaknesses cluster around API documentation, which multiple reviewers call inadequate and lacking code examples, though the user forum compensates. Mobile setup complexity, particularly for iOS, requires significant instrumentation time. Some users report occasional crashes during recording, and headless execution isn't supported, requiring an active desktop session. Scripting via the record function can be slow and occasionally inaccurate.
A few limitations emerge for specific use cases: VB6 and legacy applications present challenges, database operations require deep coding, and licensing restrictions (including VM-specific pricing) frustrate some customers. Non-programmers may find the tool steep to start. One reviewer notes parallel test execution is restricted by Ranorex license count, which limits Selenium's key advantage if integrated.
Overall, the tool is mature and well-regarded for organisations automating across multiple platforms, though advanced developers should plan for limited API docs and non-coders may need training.

I have been using Ranorex since 3 years for functional and Mobile automation. Pros: Simplicity and Ease to use are the most important feature. Beside this, finding element through RenorexSpy is an excellent tool. Cons: The mobile automation setup is a complex process, specially for ios. Instrumentation takes lot of time. Overall: With the help of Ranorex the count of daily test cases scripting is increased. Overall it is a good ROI tool.

Ranorex has been fairly easy to learn even without any programming experience. Pros: It was very simple to learn and use, and I have barely scratched the surface as far as what it can do. Cons: I am not sure at this time, everything that I have been unsure of I have talked to tech support and they have come up with a solution for me. Overall: It has me to setup multiple regression tests to test PERSI's retirement system & website that would take someone months to try & test everything & it is all done in less than 24 hours.

Ranorex became industry standard in automation testing Pros: I've used a lot of tools for automation, but Ranorex is the only one that can automate practically anything. It manage to work with all desktop application and object recognition is now at top level from v8. The team is really responsive and support is on a great level of deep expertise. Cons: DB use and verification could be improved, since currently one need to deep into code to make otherwise easy sql use and store of var data. Overall: All in one automation tool with great customization capabilities

β"Automate your business Process using Ranorex" What do you likeβ¦β
"Automate your business Process using Ranorex" What do you like best? Automated testing is the best way to meet all the goals related to the testing, but it is equally important to have the best automation tool to simplify your business processes and Ranorex, is one such automation tool which works with all the technologies and devices. It works with desktop and web applications. The best part is that it is even mobile compatible. You can even perform cross device or cross browser testing using Ranorex. It has a good amount of documentation and user guides, it even includes image recognition, which is a challenge in most of the automation tools. What do you dislike? Ranorex is a bit complicated for the non programmers to start off with. Templates or solutions, which ease the testing process, are not separate for web/forms projects.

β"One of the greatest tool for Automation Developer!!" What doβ¦β
"One of the greatest tool for Automation Developer!!" What do you like best? The way Ranorex work in using Repository and Tracker tool is simply great. I do not have to worry about finding XML paths manually and storing them in variables. Ranorex does it all for me. :D What do you dislike? I figured that Ranorex doesn't have a huge audience for support as some other tools like Selenium has. But whenever I asked for any questions or queries to Ranorex support team, they reached back to me with a solution within 24 hours which is great! Recommendations to others considering the product Just try to use the product for evaluation period. I am pretty sure, it will do the job you need to do in simplest manner. Especially makes it easy to code Automation using OOP concepts.

βWhat do you like best? I like that you canβ¦β
What do you like best? I like that you can do a lot of things programatically. I like that it allows my agents to focus on more important tasks versus focusing on smoke testing. Plus, it allows more issues to be caught during smoke testing, as there is less room for human error due to repetition. What do you dislike? It's a little inflexible when it comes to older VB6 applications. I do not like the record function. It's very slow and occasionally off the mark. For applications that use Dynamically Named forms, there is very little help and I find the forums and it's participants very unhelpful. I also find the website is a nightmare to navigate through and that it's hard to find exactly what you are looking for.
