Small-batch manufacturing with a lot of custom build variants is exactly the kind of workflow that breaks most systems. FactoryFour held up better than I expected. A year in, my team of six relies on it for job tracking, work order management, and shop floor visibility, and it genuinely does what it promises for the standard stuff. Customization is real, not just a marketing word. They let us bend the workflows to fit how we actually operate, which I could not say about the last platform we tried.
Where it gets bumpy is the edge cases. Complex rework orders with split job codes caused some odd behavior in the reporting module, and I spent an afternoon with support untangling it. Their team was helpful, but the fix felt more like a workaround than a solution. Certain conditional routing logic also has limits that aren't obvious until you hit them. Not dealbreakers for a small shop, but worth knowing before you go deep on configuration.
