For what you pay as a solo operator, this thing is almost unfairly generous. I landed on Zoho People years ago partly out of budget desperation, and I've never seriously looked elsewhere since. The free tier carried me longer than I expected, and when I finally outgrew it, the paid plans scaled in a way that felt respectful of my actual size. No forcing an enterprise seat count on a one-person shop. That alone keeps me loyal.
The feature set you get at each price point is legitimately stacked: attendance tracking, custom forms, leave management, timesheet syncing with Zoho CRM for client billing. As a freelancer juggling multiple client engagements, that CRM connection saves me a real headache every month. Customer support has been hit-or-miss on response speed, which I'll admit freely. But when I weighed that against five-plus years of reliable uptime and pricing that never blindsided me with a surprise invoice, the math stays firmly in Zoho People's favor.
