Five years is long enough to know which parts of a tool genuinely pull their weight. For Simio, it's the analytics and reporting side that keeps me coming back to it every single week. The scheduling risk analysis dashboards in particular are something I haven't found matched anywhere else. Being able to visualize schedule confidence intervals and flag bottleneck risk before a shift even starts changed how my department runs daily stand-ups. I export those reports to our operations director on a routine basis, and they've become the actual foundation of our capacity conversations, not just a backup slide.
That said, the reporting interface has a learning curve that borders on steep. New planners on my team take a few weeks before they stop asking me how to configure custom views, and the documentation doesn't always close the gap. Customer support is decent but not fast when you hit a non-standard reporting question. Worth it overall, especially for a mid-market operation that needs serious simulation depth without a dedicated analyst team, but go in with realistic onboarding expectations.
