Klaviyo's segmentation logic is genuinely impressive, and as someone running client campaigns solo, that matters a lot. About six months in, I can say it handles the standard stuff beautifully: welcome flows, abandoned cart sequences, post-purchase triggers. The Shopify sync is reliable, the visual flow builder makes sense, and I stopped dreading Monday morning campaign checks pretty quickly. For freelancers managing multiple small stores under one account, the interface is clean enough that context-switching doesn't destroy your brain.
That said, the edge cases have been my main friction. Conditional splits behave unexpectedly when a contact matches more than one segment simultaneously, and figuring out why a particular profile fell out of a flow mid-sequence took me way too long. The documentation covers the happy path well, but the corner cases (like what happens when someone gets re-added to a list that already triggered a flow) require serious digging through community posts. I also hit a wall with SMS and email throttling interactions that wasn't documented anywhere obvious. Support eventually helped, but the first reply I got was clearly a template.
None of this is a dealbreaker. Honestly, most platforms have messier edge cases with worse core tooling, so I'm not trading down. The pricing scales uncomfortably fast as list sizes grow, which stings a little when you're freelancing and padding margins is everything. But the product itself keeps earning its place. If you're evaluating this for a solo or small-shop setup, go in with realistic expectations about the learning curve on complex logic, and budget time for testing.
