Two years running my own store solo, and the analytics dashboard is genuinely the thing I open first every single morning. Not to tick a box. Because it actually tells me something useful. Sales by channel, top-performing products over a custom date range, where traffic dropped off mid-funnel. It's all there without needing to export anything into a separate spreadsheet or wire up a third-party tool just to get a basic picture of what's happening.
The reporting has gotten noticeably more capable over the past year too, which I didn't expect. Custom reports took me a little while to figure out (the segmentation filters aren't immediately obvious), and customer service response times have occasionally been slower than I'd like for a paid plan. But those are minor frustrations. For a solo operator who doesn't have a data analyst on call, Shopify gives me more clarity on my business than anything I've tried before. I came in with modest expectations. They've been well exceeded.
