Beast Mode changed how I think about data prep entirely. That's the thing I keep coming back to after about a year of living inside Domo almost every workday. For anyone who hasn't hit its limits yet, Beast Mode is Domo's calculated field engine, and on the surface it sounds like a minor convenience. In practice, it's the reason my department stopped sending data requests back to engineering for every little transformation. I can write a formula, blend logic across multiple datasets, and surface exactly the number a stakeholder needs, all without touching a database or waiting two days for someone else's sprint cycle to free up.
The depth you can reach with it surprised me. Nested CASE statements, date arithmetic, conditional aggregations that respond to card-level filters. Our four-person analytics group has basically built a library of reusable Beast Mode calculations that snap into new dashboards in minutes. There's a learning curve, no question. The documentation is decent but not exhaustive, and I spent a few afternoons on community forums reverse-engineering edge cases. Customer support, when I eventually reached them, was helpful but not instant. Worth knowing going in.
Outside of Beast Mode, the mobile experience is genuinely good, and the connector library has covered everything our department has thrown at it so far. Value feels strong relative to what I've seen from older tools we used to manage on spreadsheets and manual exports. If you're an analyst who wants to own transformations without constantly looping in engineers, Domo gives you real power to do that. I'd push for it at any mid-market org without much hesitation.
