Running finance for a nonprofit means I'm rarely sitting at a desk for more than an hour before someone pulls me into a program meeting, a site visit, or a fundraising event across town. Dext fixed a problem I didn't fully admit I had: receipts piling up in my jacket pockets, expense reports done on Sunday nights from memory. Now I snap the photo right there in the parking lot, the data extracts in seconds, and it flows straight into our accounting software. About six months in and my reconciliation time has dropped noticeably. The mobile app is genuinely the whole product for me.
The supplier rules have been a quiet revelation too. Once I trained Dext on our recurring vendors, categorization just happens. Customer support responded quickly the one time I had an upload issue, which I appreciated. Value for a small nonprofit is always a concern, and the pricing feels fair given how much manual work it's replaced. If your team is scattered across program sites and you need expense capture to actually happen in the field, this is worth a serious look.
