Jiva

Jiva was a technology-enabled platform and mobile application founded in 2020, aimed at improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers who produce a significant portion of the worlds food. Backed by Olam International, Jiva operated primarily in Asia and Africa, providing a comprehensive ecosystem that included agronomic advice, financing, input supply, and market access tailored to local conditions. The platform offered personalized agronomic advice, cash advances for farm inputs, and direct sales and delivery of agricultural products such as seeds and fertilizers. Jiva also procured crops from farmers at harvest, ensuring a reliable market and fair prices. With millions of registered farmers, including over 8 million in India, Jiva achieved significant market penetration, supporting small-scale farmers in accessing essential resources and knowledge. Jiva utilized cloud-based infrastructure to deliver scalable services, even in rural areas with low internet connectivity. The platform was dedicated to empowering farmers and enhancing their productivity through innovative digital tools and services.
